Akuratemp at ADLM 2025 – A Look Back

We had a fantastic week at ADLM 2025, connecting with laboratories, hospital systems, reagent manufacturers, and medical couriers from all over the country. Our team — Andy Reinhart, Harshul Gupta, Keith Miller, along with engineers Ulises Vargas and Alex Neel — was proud to represent Akuratemp and share what we’ve been working on.

Smart Courier Totes for the Last Mile

One of the highlights was our new generation of courier totes designed for both medical couriers and mobile phlebotomy. These totes don’t just protect temperature-sensitive samples — they give full end-to-end visibility with location tracking and chain of custody. Visitors saw first-hand how the totes maintain temperature integrity even after multiple openings, send smart notifications if something goes wrong, and make daily trip reporting simple.

Reusable Parcel Shippers

We also showcased our pre-validated, reusable parcel shippers built with proprietary PCM technology. These are designed for labs that need reagents delivered on demand or samples sent to reference labs — covering frozen, refrigerated, and controlled room temperature ranges without dry ice. They’re ideal for closed-loop U.S. supply chains, cutting down waste and cost while keeping compliance in check.

Akurasense in Action

Many attendees were excited to see our Akurasense cold chain platform in a live demo. With it, medical couriers can quickly scan and validate lockboxes at pickup, giving confidence that samples stayed within range — complete with time, temperature, and location stamps. It also supports full chain of custody from tote release, through local pickups, all the way to long-haul transfers. Plus, the reporting tools make it easy to dig into root cause analysis and performance comparisons, helping teams improve every day.

It was energizing to see the level of interest and the conversations we had around making cold chain logistics smarter, more sustainable, and easier to manage.

Reducing the Risk of Damage

In diagnostic logistics, every hour and every degree matters.

Across the United States, most diagnostic laboratories depend on lockboxes as a key part of their sample collection network. Physician offices place patient specimens into these lockboxes during business hours, and a medical courier retrieves them later in the evening. In theory, this system works… but in practice, it introduces a critical point of vulnerability, especially for temperature-sensitive specimens.
